The avatars of Gozer, these terror gargoyles are the final form taken by the possessed Dana Barrett and Louis Tully who make love as the Keymaster and Gatekeeper to bring about the summoning of the great Sumerian demigod.
The terror dogs in Ghostbusters from 1984 are a combination of animatronics work and stop motion, these gargoyle monsters are drooling beasts who start life as stone gargoyles at the top of 55 Central Park West, and have a tendency to chase and eviscerate people across the city’s park, much to the annoyance of the upper-class diners enjoying supper in a fancy restaurant.
“The Terror Dogs are two-horned, dog-like, demonic monsters with blazing red eyes and powerful dark-colored bodies. They are Zuul The Gatekeeper & Vinz Clortho The Keymaster, loyal minions of Gozer the Gozerian. Zuul & Vinz Clortho manifested from Terror Dog statues on the roof of Dana’s apartment building. Zuul stalked Dana Barrett and first appeared inside her refrigerator and later possessed her body in her kitchen. Vinz then appeared in Louis Tully’s apartment in the middle of a party and chased him down in Central Park before it took possession of his body.”
The original Ghostbusters is a funny inter-dimensional channeling of high concept sci-fi and low concept comedy. Directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. It stars Bill Murray, Aykroyd, and Ramis as, respectively, Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler, a trio of eccentric parapsychologists who start a ghost-catching business in New York City. The film also stars Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis and features Annie Potts, William Atherton, and Ernie Hudson in supporting roles.
