Guardians of the Galaxy was a truly stunning movie, the action-packed, epic space adventure, have been called Star Wars for a new generation by some.

Whether you agree about that or not, the 2014 film had a number of great points and one of the things that really stood out was the fully lived-in universe it created.

Concept artist Kev Jenkins shows his original designs for Morag, Xandar, and Knowhere. He describes the process:

“I designed the Knowhere Robot Head and have included the image chosen by Marvel that inspired the direction. I also Designed and worked on the Zbrush sculpt that VFX used in their DMP’s using an initial sculpt I did for the concept paintings. After seven months in pre-production, I then hired a team and spent three months creating all the concept assets under my direction while I provided lighting studies for VFX to follow.”

Also, revealing his initial drawings of Zoe Saldana’s character, Marvel concept artist Andy Park shared one of his earlier designs for Gamora. Park also unveil a much different look for Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the film, which Park describes as one of the “early” passes he did at designing the character.

“This was early days on the first #GuardiansoftheGalaxy so we played with the idea of giving her a different skin color. I had fun with this one,”
