The A.B.C. Warriors are a team of war robots designed to withstand ‘Atomic’, ‘Bacterial’, and ‘Chemical’ warfare. They were built to take part in the long-running Volgan War.

Each robot has a distinctive personality – often one programmed by its human creators – but each is more or less able to act with free will.

In the 1995 movie ‘Judge Dredd’, we see an ABC Warrior in the ownership of legal arms dealer Geiger who was killed by Rico, who then reprogrammed the robot to obey his command. Afterward, the Robot was Rico’s main muscle and did any necessary heavy combat for him and Dr. Ilsa. When Judge Griffin suggests they reboot the Janus Project and the council refuses, he has the robot kill the council and blames it on Dredd.

It’s true that Judge Dredd is enjoyable in a laughing at it kind of way rather than a laughing with it one, but that’s still enjoyable in our books.

The movie was directed by Danny Cannon, produced by Edward R. Pressman, Charles Lippincott, and Beau E. L. Marks, and written by William Wisher Jr. and Steven E. de Souza. The film stars Sylvester Stallone, Diane Lane, Rob Schneider, Armand Assante, and Max von Sydow.

We like:

  • Despite being made in '95, it shares that intrinsically typical 1980's vision of a dystopian future.
