Captain Jack makes his grand entrance to Port Royal atop a sinking fishing boat. It is one of the best iconic entrances of any protagonist in any movie ever, Captain Jack Sparrow’s arrival in the first “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie symbolized just how cool, and hilarious, this character is.

A down on his luck pirate who’s about to make port in a town where pirates aren’t welcome. Just as his boat sinks to a halt at the dock, Jack takes his first step towards dazzling audiences with his quick wit, rebellious spirit, and adventurous charm. A perfectly humorous entrance for a very odd character, far different from pirate movie characters of the past.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) was directed by Gore Verbinski and based on Walt Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disney theme parks. The story follows pirate Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) as they rescue the kidnapped Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) from the cursed crew of the Black Pearl, captained by Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), who become undead skeletons at night.
