Guardians of the Galaxy from 2014 was an absolutely stunning movie, the action-packed, epic space adventure, has been described as Star Wars for a new generation.

It was the first Marvel movie to take place almost entirely off-Earth, and that meant Marvel had to create entirely new worlds from scratch. Naturally, the creative team ran with the opportunity, providing us with some truly stunning settings.

The skilled concept artist and matte painter Oliver Pron was tasked by Guardian’s production designer Charlie Wood to design Xandar’s overall look.

As you guys are well aware, Xandar is the planet where four of the five Guardians meet for the very first time. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) goes there to try to sell the orb, Gamora (Zoe Saldana) shows up to try and steal it from him, and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel) are after the bounty on Peter Quill’s head. Xandar is also the place where the final showdown takes place.

Check out his eye-poppingly impressive art below and you can see more of Olivier Pron’s work on his website and on Artstation.

Also, the official art book can be found on Amazon for about $40, if you’re interested in seeing more eye-popping illustrations.
